"Hands Across Havana", the theme of the Havana Relay For Life, has a new face and what a face it is! Local artist June Zent created a 30"X36" painting that beautifully depicts the unity, hope and caring nature of this community. The original may be viewed at the Relay on April 29-30 in the city park by the Public Library.
"Our community is the first to have a unique Relay For Life logo", stated organizer Shirley Aaron. "This logo will be included on items related to the Relay. We feel very lucky to have had such a talented, well-known, generous artist donate her time to produce our masterpiece."
Community members desiring to see more of Zent's work and purchase a print should visit businesses throughout Havana. Zent has made selected prints of her work available with all proceeds going to the Cancer Relay for Life fund.
These prints cover a variety of subject matter and sell for $14.00 each. Help fight cancer and beautify your home at the same time by purchasing your favorite Zent print.
Please feel free to contact via email artzent@att.net for information. Additional information posted May 24,2005: The theme "HANDS ACROSS HAVANA" and the painting of the same name were both original concepts of the artist. She and many other hard working people were proud to contribute to the outstanding success of this event which raised $53,200.00 for the American Cancer Society. Prints of this image are available from the artist but as of the end date of the relay they are not connected to anyone other than the artist. Copyright of the original and any reproductions remains with the artist.
