Blue Crab Festival, Palatka: Zent Receives Second Major Award
June won a major award for the second year at The
Blue Crab Fine Arts Festival in Palatka, Florida. She was
honored to receive the Award of Distinction which earned her
$500.00 in addition to selling an original painting and several
limited edition prints. The award was presented by well qualified
judge Harry Messersmith with staff, other artist and the public
in attendance. The Festival is held every year over the three
day Memorial Day weekend and attracts over two hundred thousand
visitors each year to enjoy fine arts, crafts, entertainment,
wonderful food, and an uplifting parade honoring our veterans.
It is known as the largest Memorial Day celebration in Florida.
Evelyn Snyder and Judy Patterson chaired the fine arts portion
and provided every convenience for the artist as well as hosting
a lovely artist reception. June’s work is also currently being
featured in two juried art shows: Summer Showcase in Thomasville,
Georgia and the Best of Spring into Arts in Valdosta, Georgia.
She is honored to be represented in both excellent venues
and thrilled to have won this important award.
Creative Tallahassee: June Zent artwork wins First
Place
Located at City Hall in Tallahassee Florida, the
Creative Tallahasee Art Show brought artists together for a showing
and judging of works. June submitted her oil "Hands Across Havana",
as well as "Budding Venus". Hands Across Havana took First
Place among the works, and June was awarded a cash prize.

Florida: Zent brings home First Place
Havana artist June Pauline Zent and several Tallahassee
artist were accepted to show their artwork in the Eightieth Blue Crab
Festival Fine Arts Show in Palatka, Florida. The annual festival takes
place on the beautiful Saint John’s River over the three day Memorial
Day weekend and attracts in excess of 200,000 attendees. Accepted artist
travel from many states with elaborate displays to compete for the fourteen
awards ranging from Best of Show to Blue Crab Choice. June’s son
David Narro traveled from South Florida to Havana in order to assist
her in transporting her display to the show. $ 4,500.00 in addition
to purchase awards from local businesses was awarded. June was honored
to receive the Best of Show award from show judge John Ferguson which
also included $ 1,000.00. In addition her winning oil painting SONGS
OF ROSES was sold at the show to a collector from Saint Augustine along
with many prints of her other artwork.
The Festival was chaired by local arts advocates
Evelyn Snyder and Judy Rothschild who planned and executed a first class
art show and who were always available to help artist over the three
day event. They also hosted a lovely Artist’s Reception Saturday
evening. In addition to the Fine Arts Show there was a showey parade
along the main street to honor our veterans, a Crafts Show with many
vendors, various scheduled entertainment, and delicious food. June and
other artist from Havana and Tallahassee will be the first to apply
for entry to next years Blue Crab Fine Arts Festival!
